"TSIKLITIRIA" GRAND PRIX Athens, May 23rd, 2002

Unique Athletes are expected to participate this year in the Athens Grand Prix "Tsiklitiria", which is going to be held the 10th of June in the Olympic Stadium, organized by Panellinios A.C.

For the forth time, in the Grand Prix will participate the American "golden" Olympic winner of the 100m. and World Champion of the event, Maurice Greene, who will make in Athens his first race in 100m. for this year.

Greene has combined his name with Athens and the unique Grand Prix, which is held in Greece. In 1997 in the World Championship he won his first gold medal in an important championship, while in 1999 in "Tsiklitiria" he broke the world record in 100m with his amazing 9.79.

Apart from Maurice Greene, in this year's "Tsiklitiria", are expected to participate other known sprinters with great performance in Olympic Games and World Championships, like Ato Boldon, who had won the 200m. race of "Athens '97", as well as Bernard Williams, Jason Gardener, Shaun Crawford and John Drummond.

Totally in the Grand Prix "Tsiklitiria", are expected to participate 171 foreign champions and 60 Greeks. We refer here to the Australian pole vaulter Dimitri Markov, who won in the World Championship in Edmonton, the Polish world champion in hammer throw Szymon Ziolkovski, as well as the young Swedish triple jumper Christian Olsson, who was second in Edmonton, while March in Vienna was European Indoor Championships.
